The Water Tank at Heart Song is Now Buried!

Tank finally buried

Well, it has only taken us three months, but we have finally got the 600 gallon water storage tank buried!  After two attempts at digging a hole for it by hand, when we were thwarted by massive rocks three feet down, we had Rodney and his machine give us some help and he dug another hole (which also has a large rock at the bottom) and then we had him bury it against a big bank, see photo above.
Below is a photo of the tank sitting beside the first hole we hand dug, which has a massive rock in the bottom so we could not go any deeper.

The good part is that during the digging of the holes for the tank, we came across three more springs!   We had to put pipes in so as not to bury them and this involved digging across the road to pipe the water into the stream.

It took a fair bit of preparation to prepare the hole for the tank, which included making it wide enough and then level at the bottom.  We added washed stone to place the tank onto for drainage under and stability.

So finally, it was time to get the tank and put it down the hole!

So, that evening, Rodney, the digger driver came back and buried the tank for us.

After the work the digger did, I went back and groomed the bank that was now covering the tank and beyond.
Before and after groming the bank that the digger made over the tank.

The next post will describe how we captured the springs and piped the water flow from them into the spring box and into the 600 gallon tank – and beyond.
